Tommy Cehak is the Creative Director of Volkswagen and Netflix at DDB Sydney.

If he’s not doing that, then he’s probably standing in as a Scandinavian DOP on the set of a Volkswagen Amarok commercial.

He is known for creating cross-disciplinary, out-of-the-box, ultra-hyphenated, award-winning creative work. He also has a knack for spotting emerging creative talent in the industry.

In the year that he joined DDB Sydney his campaigns ‘Polo UnFail’ and ‘Amarok Too Powerful for TV’ helped propel the agency to the Campaign Brief Agency of the Year title for the first time in over a decade. During the same period, he was ranked #1 Australian Creative according to BestAds.

Tommy’s work has been recognised across multiple clients and disciplines, at every major international award show throughout his career. A recent example being the D&AD, One Show and Cannes Gold Lion winning ‘Grave of Thrones’ campaign for Foxtel, that helped place him in the Top 100 Creatives in the world, according to The Drum.

Most recently his ‘Ad Break Championship’ campaign for Volkswagen saw DDB Sydney recognised as one of the best and bravest agencies in the world by making the 2022 Contagious Pioneers list and being crowned Agency Network of the Year at the 43rd AWARD Awards.

Tommy has judged the AWARD Awards and is a regular AWARD School juror and portfolio night panelist.

Away from work, Tommy is most-likely daydreaming about where and when he’ll be able to travel overseas again.
